If you have any questions about financing and insurance benefits, or are not sure if you qualify, please call our office at (804) 729-3474, and a member of our team will be more than happy to assist you.

Financing Options

If you do not have health insurance, our office accepts CareCredit—a healthcare credit card that is accepted at over 240,000 providers nationwide for various medical expenses, including dental, veterinary and cosmetic procedures. It allows consumers to finance their healthcare needs and pay for them over time with special financing options such as interest-free periods, low monthly payments, and no prepayment penalties.

CareCredit is a financial tool that helps patients afford the healthcare they need without having to pay everything upfront. It is offered by Synchrony Bank, and users can apply online or in person. CareCredit works like a regular credit card, but with specific healthcare-related benefits, making it an attractive option for people who need help paying for medical expenses.

Sleep Apnea Treatment & Insurance

Treatment for sleep apnea using oral appliances is often covered by insurance. This treatment is typically classified under DME benefits. Few private insurance plans require proof that the patient tried CPAP therapy and it was unsuccessful.

In order to qualify for coverage under Medicare, patients must meet the following criteria:

  • Patient must have undergone a sleep study, usually within the last 12 months

  • Patient must have proof that they were evaluated for sleep apnea

  • If the patient did try a CPAP machine prior to oral appliance therapy, there must be a medical reason as to why they ceased CPAP treatment

Patients seeking Medicare coverage must also meet one of the following:

Patients with mild sleep apnea must display one of the following symptoms: excessive daytime sleepiness, insomnia, hypertension, restless sleep (insomnia), mood disorder (anxiety, depression, PTSD), history of stroke or history of heart disease (or heart attack).

No additional criteria are required.

Patients with severe sleep apnea must have one of the following: proof of trial and failure of CPAP, or medical necessity.
